USS Krishna
The USS Krishna was a repair ship decommissioned in 1971. Built using asbestos, she and other Navy repair ships exposed many veterans to the carcinogenic mineral fiber.

USS Krishna earned twelve battle stars for her service during the Vietnam War.
Repair ships are the single most important reason that other ships in the fleet are able to continue operating. Repair ships rendezvous with damaged vessels at sea and perform on site repairs, which allow the damaged ship to continue its cruise without stopping at a naval shipyard for repairs. Quite frequently, repair vessels were able to keep other ships afloat and save thousands of lives in the process.
