The Gori Law Firm sponsored a free movie event at Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville where families enjoyed a screening of the holiday classic “Polar Express.” This was part of the Holiday Head Start campaign that raised $11,000 for needy families. The Gori Law Firm Collecting Gift Cards For Make-A-Wish Foundation Of Illinois

EDWARDSVILLE, ILL., Nov. 6, 2013 . . . Stepping up to show their holiday spirit, The Gori Law Firm today announced it will support the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois in its 2013 Gift Card drive for the holidays by serving as a collection location. The gift cards will be used to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience of hope, strength and joy.

The organization seeks gift cards in varying denominations ($10, $20, $50 or more). Area residents or businesses interested in making a gift card donation may visit The Gori Law Firm‘s Edwardsville office, located at 156 N. Main Street at the corner of Main St. and Hillsboro Ave. For questions about making donations, please call Lindy Heigert, of The Gori Law Firm, at (618) 307-4085. Gift cards will be collected through December 1, 2013.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois granted 698 magical, life-changing wishes to Illinois children with life-threatening medical conditions this past fiscal year. For a child, a wish come true provides renewed hope and often times the courage to keep fighting.

Madison County Internship Program

The Gori Law Firm is assisting in the Madison County Internship Program sponsored by the Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and the Madison County Bar Association. Golf For Tomorrow

A Foundation to Benefit Alzheimer’s Association and the Alliance for Lupus Research. Since awarding their first grants in 1982, the Alzheimer’s Association has grown into the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. Over the life of their grants program, they have awarded in excess of $279 million to more than 1,900 projects. Through the fundraising efforts of their donors, the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) has become the largest private funder of lupus (an auto-immune disease which affects over 1.4 million individuals) research in the world. By year’s end, they will have committed $50 million to lupus research. They’ve made progress toward the goal of finding new treatments and, one day, a cure for lupus; but the ALR is not there yet. All tournament proceeds are split evenly between The Alzheimer’s Association and The Alliance for
Lupus Research.

On October 31, The Gori Law Firm, in partnership with the American Red Cross, hosted a Blood Drive. The event was a huge success, however, The American Red Cross always needs donors to help them save lives, as each donor saves three lives. We encourage all who can to find a Blood Drive near you and get out and donate.


U.S. Military

The Gori Law Firm made care packages to send overseas to our men and women in uniform serving in Iraq and Afghanistan this holiday season. The holidays are especially difficult for the service men and women to be away from their families. We are hoping that the care packages we put together with personal items, snacks, books, puzzles, phone cards, etc., will help them feel much closer to home. Each employee will also write a personal note to include in the package thanking the man/woman for serving in the military and protecting the freedoms that we all enjoy every day.


“Lawyers For The Needy” Madison County Bar Association Food Drive

Attorneys in Madison County stepped up to help those in need by donating canned goods and nonperishable food items to local pantries. The pantries that received the donations were: Glen – Ed Food Pantry (Edwardsville), Community Hope Center (Cottage Hills), Venice Township Food Bank (Madison), Riverbend Community Food Bank (Alton). In addition to the food, we collected $1,235 that was divided among the four pantries to help them stock the shelves. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International focuses on research to find a cure, better treatments, and prevention methods for Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. The Gori Law Firm made a donation to the Walk to Cure Diabetes to help fund research to cure, treat, and prevent Type 1 diabetes, which affects as many as 3 million Americans, most of whom are children and adolescents.

Marie Schaefer PTO

The PTO at Marie Schaefer School in O’Fallon, Illinois, has started the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Program which rewards students for consistently exhibiting positive behavior with the privilege of eating outside with the teachers, friends and principal. This program has gained in popularity at the school, and more picnic tables were needed to accommodate all the students being rewarded for their good choices and positive behavior. The Gori Law Firm made a donation to the Marie Schaefer PTO to help purchase a picnic table for the program.


Law Enforcement Torch Run Trivia Knight To Benefit Special Olympics Illinois

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Godfrey Knights of Columbus join together each year to sponsor a trivia night in which all the proceeds benefit the Special Olympics of Illinois. The Special Olympics Program aims at helping those with intellectual disabilities lead a more normal life through participation in sports. There are Special Olympic programs in 180 countries, and the program in Illinois has grown exponentially in the past years offering year-round training and competition in 19 sports. The Gori Law Firm sponsored a table at the trivia night to help fund the Special Olympics program and raise awareness in the community.

Pink Ponies: The Brighton Athletic Association offers baseball, softball and soccer to youth boys and girls. The Gori Law Firm believes in teaching children the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and through sponsoring the “Pink Ponies” soccer team, our firm can do just that.

New Scoreboard: The Gori Law Firm has also sponsored a Casino Night for the Brighton Athletic Association in which all funds go toward the purchase of a new scoreboard.


Collinsville High School

The Collinsville High School Kaho Kickers Booster Club held a golf tournament to help raise money for the Boys Soccer team. The team was in need of uniforms and equipment. To help the team purchase necessary items and to show our support, The Gori Law Firm sponsored a hole at the golf tournament.


Illinois Esprit Softball Club

The Illinois Esprit Softball Club was founded in 1982 to provide players with the opportunity to learn the joy of playing the game the right way. The Gori Law Firm believes in their goals of appreciation of sportsmanship, the pride of being a good teammate, and the satisfaction of giving maximum effort, which is why The Gori Law Firm donated to the club to help purchase uniforms and equipment.


Holy Cross School

The Sixth Grade Girls Basketball Team at Holy Cross School advanced to the National level. To help the team and show our support, The Gori Law Firm helped the team with expenses so they could travel to Indianapolis for the Nationals Competition.

The Boys and Girls Club serves over 1600 youth annually from Bethalto, Illinois, and 14 surrounding communities. The Gori Law Firm believes in The Boys and Girls Club mission: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. To help further this mission, The Gori Law Firm sponsored a baseball team so children can learn the value of teamwork.


Alton Renegades Football Club

The Alton Renegades Football Club is dedicated to teaching the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence to children through team sports such as football and cheerleading. The Gori Law Firm paid for several children to play football that otherwise wouldn’t have been able to because of their families’ limited means. We believe all children should be able to participate in team sports if they want to, and nothing should stand in their way. The Gori Law Firm also participated in a golf scramble to help raise money for this organization.

Heifer International

Heifer International is a charitable institution which is based on helping those in need by working with families and teaching them the Heifer’s Agroecology Initiative. This initiative is helping to restore land to its original abundance and replenish the earth’s resources through the smart use of plants and animals.


Drost Park Khoury League

The Drost Park Khoury League is a not-for-profit organization where 5- to 12-year-old children can play baseball, softball and T-ball. Every year the League has a raffle fundraiser to help maintain the park and fields. This year, The Gori Law Firm donated St. Louis Cardinals tickets for the raffle. The event was a huge success, and thanks to raffle donations from the community, the League is able to make improvements to the park and baseball/softball diamonds.


Spina Bifida Of Greater St. Louis

Spina Bifida of Greater St. Louis is dedicated to researching and finding a cure to Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring permanently disabling birth defect. It affects approximately one out of every 1,000 newborns in the United States. It results from the failure of the spine to close properly during the first month of pregnancy. This year, a golf outing was held to not only raise awareness of the disease, but to help raise money for research. The Gori Law Firm sponsored a hole and foursome to play in the tournament.

Alton Park And Recreation

The Alton Park and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of sports for youth boys and girls such as baseball, softball, soccer, tennis and junior golf. In addition, the Alton Park and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of youth clinics and camps: summer day camps, tennis clinics, baseball clinics and basketball clinics. Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.9 billion since inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, they work together with the community and medical professionals to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Staff members at The Gori Law Firm donated over $300 through “pay to wear jeans days,” several staff members participated in the walk, and The Gori Law Firm was one of the many sponsors of the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure, St. Louis, Missouri.

Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundation

The Gori Law Firm contributed $5,000 to help with the enhancement and betterment of health and human services, education and scholarships, community projects, the arts, parks, conservation and the environment in the Edwardsville area.


Glen-Ed Food Pantry

The Glen-Ed Food Pantry serves the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon area of Illinois, helping those in need. The staff at The Gori Law Firm donates canned goods, nonperishable food items, hygiene products and other items routinely to the Glen-Ed Food Pantry. We make a quarterly donation along with a larger donation around the holidays.

The Gori Law Firm, based in downtown Edwardsville, is seeking sponsors in support of a pub crawl event they are hosting on May 4, 2013, to benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF). In its second year, the Pub Crawl for Meso will include Edwardsville’s finest establishments within walking distance throughout the downtown area to include Global Brew, The Stagger Inn, Erato on Main and Big Daddy’s.

“We are dedicated to raising funds for Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and are seeking sponsors for the pub crawl this year to enhance our fundraising efforts,” said Randy Gori of The Gori Law Firm

Sponsorships are available for $250 each, which includes two free pub crawl tickets, a sponsor logo on pub crawl t-shirt and mentions in press releases and social media. Local business Cork Tree Creative, Inc., has already signed on as a sponsor. Deadline to secure a sponsorship is April 8, 2013.

MARF is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping end the suffering caused by mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer that develops from the protective lining that covers many of the body’s internal organs. It is caused by exposure to asbestos.

Come out to the parking lot at 156 North Main Street, Edwardsville, Illinois on August 18th for a rummage sale! All types of items will be for sale ranging from clothing, toys and electronics, to home goods! We will also be selling computers and donating all of the proceeds to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF). The set includes a monitor, keyboard, mouse and tower. Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.

SIUE’s Meridian Ballroom held the Taste of Edwardsville event. All proceeds benefited the Edwardsville Neighbors in Need, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing temporary financial assistance to Edwardsville-area families, for urgent needs due to unforeseen medical or emergency hardships.


March 31, 2012 – Pub Crawl for Meso!!

This Pub Crawl went through downtown Edwardsville, Illinois, in support of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) to help find a “Cure4Meso.” All proceeds were donated to MARF to help with research, finding treatments and ultimately a cure for mesothelioma. Participating bars included: Global Brew, Stagger Inn, Erato on Main, Big Daddy’s and Laurie’s Place. We raised over $4,000 for this great charity!

March 10, 2012 – Walk for Wishes!

The Gori Law Firm participated in and sponsored the “Walk for Wishes” in St. Clair Square, Fairview Heights, Illinois, which is a fundraiser to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. In 2012, their goal is to grant more than 800 wishes, and they have a long-term goal of granting wishes to all eligible children in Illinois.
