GranuFlo Recall Lawyers

Dangerous Drug Recall Litigation

Dialysis is a treatment for patients suffering from end-stage renal disease or renal failure. At this stage, their kidneys can no longer function on their own and require dialysis. During the dialysis, patients are administered drugs. When these drugs are given at the wrong concentration, serious and even deadly complications can result. One drug has been found to be so dangerous that the FDA has issued a recall. That drug is called GranuFlo.

At The Gori Law Firm, we are highly experienced in seeking full compensation for injured victims of defective drugs and medical devices. If you or your loved one has received dialysis treatment using the drug GranuFlo, you may be eligible for such compensation. Our attorneys are seasoned in drug recall litigation and will thoroughly review the facts surrounding your case and medical records, and will work with the right experts to prove how and why you were injured.

For more than 20 years, our law firm has been advocating for the rights of families who have become victims of drug defects and negligence by pharmaceutical companies. Let us start helping you and your family with your potential GranuFlo drug recall claim today.

GranuFlo: Dialysis Drug Recalled By The FDA — Class 1 Recall

The drug manufacturer of GranuFlo is Fresenius Medical Care North America, the largest provider of dialysis products and services in the U.S. An internal memo from November 2011 showed that Fresenius was aware of the increased chance of death from cardiopulmonary arrest patients had when using GranuFlo (as well as Naturalyte) during dialysis treatments. The risk is six times greater compared to other dialysis drugs.

Specifically, the danger lies in the concentration of acetate or sodium diacetate (acetic acid plus acetate) contained in Fresenius’ GranuFlo Dry Acid Concentrate. When inappropriate levels of this are prescribed or administered (diluted with water) as a final solution during hemodialysis, this can lead to high serum bicarbonate levels. High bicarbonate levels can cause metabolic alkalosis, a condition associated with cardiovascular injuries and even death.
